Dear YEF supporter,

It is with profound sadness that I share the news of the passing of our beloved friend, Steven L. Shaw.

​

I had the privilege of knowing Steven for more than two decades. His contributions were instrumental in the establishment and success of the YEF-Yildizlar Education Fund at the University at Buffalo. He dedicated himself to the selection of deserving students for this scholarship and consistently offered his support to YEF students whenever they needed him.

​

Over time, Steven and I developed a deep friendship. He cherished his visits to Istanbul, and we always made it a point to share a meal together, engaging in captivating conversations about global issues and the simple joys of life.

​

Steven exemplified kindness in its purest form. With his intellectual prowess and worldly outlook, he effortlessly connected with people from all corners of the globe. Above all, he was genuinely kind-hearted.

​

The untimely and unexpected loss of this dear friend has left me and my family devastated. Our thoughts and prayers are with Steven as he finds eternal peace. He will be greatly missed, and his memory will forever hold a special place in our hearts.

​

May he rest in peace.

A Memorial Service for Steven will be held at a later date to be determined. Steven has been employed at SUNY of Buffalo for over 30 years as the Vice President of International Admissions.
